Summary:
This research work is an attempt to analyze the issue of press freedom in both print and electronic form. Initially, is analyzed the protection of the right to freedom of the press in Greece and internationally through a historical exploratory review. Is made an extensive reference to the general constitutional framework of press freedom as an individual right and as an institutional guarantee, to individual rights and to general and specific restrictions, on the attempt to balance and protect other fundamental rights.

The following is an analysis of Article 10 of the 1950 European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) which guarantees the right to freedom of expression, reception and transmission of information and ideas. Then, through case law is presented the application of Article 10 from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) 's. Finally, it examines how these all work in the modern world of communication and information transmission on the Internet.
