The environmental aspects of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
Summary:
This thesis analyzes the several aspects of the Environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (ECSR). ECSR is a newly-examined issue in the relevant literature, which emerged as a result of the increasing demand for more environmental-friendly corporate policies. Throughout this thesis, ECSR is treated as a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CRS) of the firms. Both issues are extensively reviewed using a vast amount of studies.
ECSR refers to all those actions that a company should take in order to reduce its negative output to the environment. Interestingly, companies that adopt environmental-friendly policies tend to be more lucrative, due the higher customer satisfaction and engagement to the firm. Therefore, this thesis empirically examines the way Greek customers respond to such policies, by using a sample of 120 people. At first, the people of our sample were asked to answer a questionnaire of 43 questions. Secondly, the results of this questionnaire were analyzed using several statistical tests and diagrams. In a nutshell, Greek customers seem to value environmental-friendly corporate policies and to prefer companies that adopt green strategies. Furthermore, younger and well-educated people have deeper knowledge on environmental issues.
