The aim of the present paper is to conduct a literature review focusing on Ankylosing Spondyloarthritis.An important part of this paper is to address the need for Interdisciplinary Teams in the healthcare field.Occupational Therapy, as well as the Physiotherapeutic approach combined with medication is an important factor which aims in improving the patients’ functionality and, thus, their quality of life.

The aim of the present paper is to conduct a literature review focusing on Ankylosing Spondyloarthritis. Initially, we will present the clinical picture and causes of the disease, the clinical examination, the interventions at medical and therapeutic level, as well as the research gaps in the field of non-conservative treatment of the disease. Occupational Therapy, as well as the Physiotherapeutic approach combined with medication is an important factor which aims in improving the patients’ functionality and, thus, their quality of life.
In a developed and constantly evolving society, the field of Biological Agents, Regenerative Medicine, as well as the introduction of Technology in the field of rehabilitation provide the means for further research, with the aim of optimizing the prognosis of patients in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
An important part of this paper is to address the need for Interdisciplinary Teams in the healthcare field, with the aim of positive feedback, direct interconnection of these members, as well as the implementation of a common scientific code (International Classification ICF), as already implemented in major European countries.
