Blending and Etymological Reanalysis in Paris Takopoulos' "Hollow Testament"
Summary:
This Master thesis presents the structure of the unconventional vocabulary in Pari's Takopoulos book called “The Hollow Testament”. In particular, after the analysis of the procedures and the reference to the mechanisms of the two phenomena, we detect and analyze the products of neology, especially total and partial blends. Offering a great amount of blends, we support the opinion of the scientific opinion, that blending and etymological reanalysis have specific structure and are formed by specific rules. In addition, we prove that, despite their obscure nature, the products of these two procedures are able to transmit multiple meanings.
