Summary:
After a brief but necessary reference to Karolos Koun’s figure, to the history of the Art Theatre, to its Drama School and the foundation of the “Children’s Stage”, the research attempts to approach the plays and the performances of the Stage under study as well as the way in which performances are created. Then, their content is discussed from a pedagogical, aesthetic and ideological point of view, their reference in the years of the crisis and, finally, the extent to which the stage fulfills the requirements appropriate for young audiences is examined. The research on the “Children’s Stage” of the Greek Art Theatre was based on the following resources: international and Greek bibliography, Theatre and personnel archives, articles, personal interviews given to the researcher, internet and audio material, recorded performances and theatre programmes.
