The Study of Self-Regulation in High-Functioning Autism in the Context of Mainstream Schooling
Summary:
In recent years theoretical and empirical data reveal the benefits of early intervention in children with autism along with enhanced self-regulation. Training in self-regulation strategies has been shown to improve the quality of life of individuals with autism, while reducing the barriers for autistic children to attend school and helping to enhance the skills and competencies required for academic, social, school and everyday life demands.
The purpose of this thesis is to study the literature on the concept and strategies of self-regulation in high-functioning autistic children, and how these can help children in mainstream schooling.
