Summary:
This thesis focuses on the ideal of the stoic sage. Virtue is inseparably linked with wisdom. Leading a life of virtue in agreement with nature is what makes the man wise and happy. Virtue, wisdom and happiness can only be actualized in the society where the sage lives and acts. The wiseman chooses a moral way of life that serves as an example for his fellow citizens, for the puspose of leading them to virtue, wisdom and happiness as well.
