Summary:
Water is the element of life in our planet. As a factor is crucial for human lives and for every activity. For this reason there is a great amount of actions needed in order to manage this natural source in a viable way. However, occasionally water may become a great threat for humanity in the form of flooding. Flooding is one of the most common natural disasters worldwide. The European Union created a directive in order to find solutions to the issue of flooding at October 23rd of 2007.This directive aims in reducing the impact of floods on human health, the environment, cultural heritage and economy. This essay focuses on researching the correlation of morphometric factors and indices to the deaths caused by floods that have been recorded in Rhodes, Greece. In more details, the author compares basins that show recorded flood victims and others that have no victims recorded. The expecting result is the correlation between these deaths and the morphometric variables.
