Nutritional hazards: Correlation with environmental pollution and their impact on human health
Summary:
Environmental pollution is a broad concept, which includes the pollution of the various biological components of the planet's natural elements as a result of human activity. In other words, it is the alteration of the form of the environment and the balance of human with nature. Human hιmself is responsible for the equestrian exploitation of the land from ancient times until now . Environmental pollution is usually classified into various categories such as air, water and soil pollution. The causes that contribute to environmental pollution are many. First of all, it is worth mentioning the reckless use of chemicals in human farming to increase production, which leads to ever-increasing soil pollution. In addition, the creation of many factories without the implementation of appropriate protection measures has contributed to the environment pollution with gas emissions. So the carbon monoxide produced by factories, as well as the burning of fossil fuels, are causes of air pollution. Water pollution is directly linked to industrial waste that is most often dumped into seas and rivers and causes infection in these. Pollution has a detrimental effect on organisms, is dangerous to human health, impairs water quality and degrades its use potential, and can also contaminate food either directly or through the food chain. The pesticides used in agricultural crops enter our body through the various foods we consume. In addition, eating fruits or vegetables grown in contaminated soils or irrigated with contaminated water can cause constant headaches, nausea, and other serious health problems, such as brain and liver damage.Food hazards that are related to environmental pollution are chemicals of anthropogenic origin, which through food can cause toxicity to humans and various diseases, increasing mortality rates, also degrade human health and can affect the functioning of almost all systems of the body as well as the normal development of man. Some substances can act as endocrine disruptors by disrupting the proper functioning of the human body. Several substances have been classified as carcinogenic and others may contribute to cancer. Diseases can also be caused by the biological hazards of food, the occurrence of which is related to environmental pollution and especially to climate change, which favors their growth.
