Summary:
Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to study the visuοspatial and mathematical skills in the light of the intra-individual gender differences and the environmental factor of the place of residence. In addition, the relationships between visuοspatial and mathematical skills in elementary school children and more specifically in second and fourth grade school students were investigated. The total sample consisted of 2014 pupils and pupils from the 2nd to the 6th grade in 48 public and private schools in the Greek territory. Data were collected using the digital tool "MathPro Test" in the framework of weighting. Based on the results, there is no difference in the area of residence. With regard to gender, it is emphasized that there are no differences in mathematical skills, but also that there are differences in visuospatial and numberline estimation skills. Finally, high correlations are found between visuospatial and mathematical skills, which, however, differ between grade 2 and 4.
