Summary:
The present thesis aims at the overall reassessment of the rhetorical character of the Alexander Romance by Pseudo-Callisthenes and specifically of its earlier extant version (3rd century A.D.). The rhetorical study of particular episodes (The Foundation of Alexandria, The Debate in Athens), letters as well as of the speeches of the hero contributes to this effort.
