Modeling of energy demand response mechanisms for home consumers
Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to present and analyze demand response mechanisms for home consumers. The study of this issue arises from the constantly increasing, national and non-national, targets for reducing energy consumption and consequently for pollutant emissions.
An important step in this direction is the conversion of simple consumers into consumers and producers at the same time (prosumers) or otherwise active consumers. The key tool for this coupling is smart energy meters that record real-time production and consumption for each consumer, allows a bidirectional communication with the provider and offer flexibility to the operator of the power system in emergency situations.
Since home consumption accounts for over 1/3 of total consumption in our country and most developed countries, and it has been found that there is considerable room for energy savings through more rational use, it is of great importance that appropriate information and sensitization of household consumers can lead them to participate effectively in energy demand response mechanisms.
