The Logistics of the Greek Army during the Greco-Italian War 1940-1941
Summary:
The present study examines the Logistics of the Greek Army during the Greco-Italian War of 1940-1941, hoping to underline on the one hand its character as a complex human-technical system and on the other its vital contribution to the successful operations of the Greek Army during the war. In particular this dissertation analyses thoroughly and with detail the organization and working of the Logistics shortly before the start of the war and during the battles of the Front of the Northen Epirus and Albania, aiming to present the decisive role that the interaction between the technical means, the personnel and the environment had on the outcome of the operations. Through this analysis an attempt is made to offer to every reader an accurate description of the superhuman effort made by the personnel of the Directorates of Logistics, Automobiles, the Army Medical Services and the other services to supply the Front with the necessary sustenance, fuel, weaponry, clothing an medical care to the men fighting in the battlefront.
