Starting time of intestinal nutrition in ill patients who are hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Intensive Care Unit.
Summary:
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of early intestinal nutrition on the outcome of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit.
Material - Method: A systematic review of the literature and a search of studies in international databases and selected websites such as ResearchGate, PubMed, Google Scholar and Medline was performed. A time limit was set regarding the date of publication of the articles (articles published in the last two years). 10 studies were found that met the criteria for their participation in the review.
Results: The search revealed 10 studies that met the criteria for their participation in the review. Of these, 3 were literature reviews, 1 randomized controlled trial, 2 meta-analyzes of randomized controlled trials, 1 conference report and 2 systematic cohort studies. Six of them evaluated the efficacy, efficacy and safety of EEN, 2 evaluated the effectiveness of a dietary protocol in ICU patients, and 1 compared EEN versus EPN and delayed EN in critically ill patients in the ICU.
Conclusion: The time of onset of intestinal nutrition in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit is between 24 and 48 after admission to the intensive care unit and is associated with a reduced risk of developing complications.
