Summary:
Chronic total occlusion is defined as the complete obstruction of a coronary artery, exhibiting TIMI 0 flow with an occlusion duration of >3 months. The European guidelines of 2018, have an indication IIA, the performance of percutaneous coronary intervention in chronic total occlusion. Based on scientific criteria, data and studies and with the emergence of novel techniques and advanced equipment, have commenced a new era of percutaneous intervention, targeting in improving symptoms and survival of patients.
