Summary:
The present PhD thesis addresses the issue of occupational pension funds asset management in the light of Directives IORP II, Solvency II και MiFID II. Starting from the clarification of the institutional framework, which involves significant particularities due to the complexity of occupational insurance, and through the comparative examination of the three European directives, this research project sets out to answer whether the application of different legal texts creates a substantial diversification of the requirements prescribed with regards to managing funds for occupational pension benefits. The conclusions of the above comparative examination are further reinforced by the examination of respective provisions for public pension funds and of soft law rules, in order to finally demonstrate whether the change of institutional framework affects the level of protection of the rights of future retirees
