Summary:
The purpose of this thesis is to analyse and study gonococcal urethritis. In the beginning general knowledge about gonococcal uretrhritis is presented concerning the reasons, the clinical image, the treatment as well as the epidemiology of the disease.
Following, there is an extensive study on the epidemiology of gonococcal urethritis at ''Andreas Syggros'' hospital as regards its frequency among men and women, Greeks and foreigners in relation with their educational level and their age. The data were gathered by the microbiological laboratory of ''A.S'' hospital referring to the time period from the year 2004 until the year 2019. Ten thousand four hundred and seventy-one (10.471) cases were gathered in total. Most patients who were afflicted with Neisseria gonorrhoeae are men and, compared with the foreigners, the Greeks (afflicted) are more. After the presentation of these statistics, the record of the conclusions arising is done. At the same time, the above data are compared with the data we have from the countries of the European Union.
