Blockchain technology implementation study in electronic health record
Summary:
The aim of the postgraduate thesis is to find ways to deal with the problems caused by the current medical patient handling system and the creation of an electronic file with access by many agencies. The key issues that had to be covered for implementation to achieve the exchange of information in the electronic file were decentralization, transparency, security and impartiality of information. The ideal technology is the Hyperledger Blockchain. Using the smart contracts that we will see below, we will examine the business logic for each participating node (patients, hospitals, doctors involved). This application will change the way of access and exchange of medical files. The final application will now have the correct and as complete information as possible with unobstructed sections of information at each stage.
In simple systems where the process of registering and finding medical results takes a long time to search while it is impossible to access from other hospitals and depends on the level of consultation and information of each body. Every organization through implementation not only aims to deliver fast results that save human life but also to provide a more efficient and quality information.
After that we will report a realist example from a patient import procedure into the emergency department of a city hospital and how it’s imprinted from a first generation health information system without any ability of electronic information storage. Moreover we report again the example for the same steps that a patient follows from his import but this time the procedure include complete second generation heath information software with potentiality of electronic health record storage and we analyze the benefits. To the end we try to simulate an architecture procedure with Electronic Health Record using Blockchain technology.
