Summary:
Nowadays educational institutions at all levels struggle to meet increasingly demanding standards; At the same time, schooling seems to be moving further and further away from the traditional education model as we once knew it. Technology has penetrated every aspect of the education process and the Internet is playing a pivotal role in the teaching practice. To give up conventional classroom instruction over distance learning is now quite commonplace.
Frequently, in times where classroom instruction is becoming prohibitive, distance learning is even deemed an absolute necessity. This is exactly what happened during the outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, where, for the sake of public health, all human activity was somewhat forcefully modified to take place at a distance. As a result, education and learning gained another dimension; one which found many teachers unprepared as they had no time to suitably adapt their instructional material to fit the new mode of teaching.
Through this paper, a research was conducted focusing on identifying educational websites that may be used for online learning. The findings of the research confirmed the existence of a limited number of such websites, especially when it comes to the primary education community in our country, and by extension the complete absence of research relating to the instrumental value that such websites have.
Based on this context, the present work focuses on the design and development of an educational website that contains teaching scenarios which will facilitate educators. These scenarios are intended to equip educators with ideas and material that will enable them to successfully meet the new educational challenges. Through this website, both the work of the teacher and the online participation of the student in the e-learning process will be greatly enhanced. It is essentially an educational intervention created by means of a web application called ‘Weebly’ and the ‘e-me for all’ platform. Its basic aim is to enrich the learning experience by integrating technology - which is now an important part of the people's daily routine - into the curriculum.
In addition, at the research level, fifty primary school teachers evaluated this site, so as to highlight its usefulness and to identify elements for improvement. This will make it a most handy tool for planning an online class. The results of the research have shown
that this is a fairly easy-to-use educational intervention, which, if widely adopted, may significantly augment the educational community’s efficacy.
