Summary:
This study investigated the effect of trauma exposure characteristics on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and psychiatric comorbidity among beneficiaries at AMKE Hopeten, which provides direct support to applicants for international protection through the housing program "ESTIA 2021". One hundred male and female applicants for international protection participated in the study. They completed the PCL-5 questionnaire. Overall, levels of PTSD symptoms were elevated. These symptoms examined in relation to other factors such as age, gender, marital status, reasons for leaving the country, etc. We recommend systematic mental health screening and the implementation of interventions to address issues related to the subjective experience of trauma exposure.
