Summary:
Organizational culture is linked to various important concepts such as human resource management, leadership and strategic management. Regarding to health services, research has shown that organizational culture influences economic efficiency - through the values and attitudes of members, equality - through the application of ethical rules of behavior to patients, the economic and social goals of the organization, cooperation and relationships between internal and external customers as well as the reputation of a healthcare unit. Τhe type of culture plays an important role in achieving job satisfaction, in order to have a positive effect on the satisfaction of employees in health services, as well. In this paper, we implemented a systematic literature review so as to investigate the potential correlation between organizational culture and occupational health satisfaction. The literature was based in 36 articles from the last twenty years. The databases used were primarily EBSCOhost, Science Direct, PubMed, and secondarily BMC Health Sciences Research and Emerald Insight. The literature confirmed the positive correlation between organizational culture - job satisfaction, identified the characteristics of organizational culture with the greatest importance in shaping satisfaction. Finally, the negative effects of the absence of organizational culture were identified.
