Summary:
The paper deals with the emblematic works of Thucydides and Cicero which follow the maturation of the societies of Athens and Rome and the consolidation of their states. This study will analyze the particular characteristics of each polity in each city, convergences and divergences, the conditions that led to political actions, which reform processes were followed and finally how the authors themselves see and judge the polities and their era and how this has affected them.
