Summary:
The purpose of this project is the construction and presentation of a model MOOC which will have as its object the study of the chapter Parallel Lines, which exists in Geometry course of the 1st High School. Its purpose is to highlight the complementary function of this MOOC as an additional teaching tool but also to highlight the way and the tools used to build the course.
The work is structured in three parts. The first part, which is the theoretical framework, the second part in which extensive reference is made to the design and implementation of the MOOC and the third part, where reference is made to the conclusions of the research question.
In the first chapter (theoretical framework) the concept of distance education was presented and how it is found in the Greek education system. Continuing in the second chapter we come to a first contact with the concept of MOOCS, the types of MOOCS and the platforms that offer them are mentioned. In the third chapter, an extensive reference is made to the pedagogical theories and principles governing MOOCS, to the advantages and disadvantages of their use. In the fourth chapter we find the role of MOOCS in the Greek education system as well as their use in secondary education.
In the second part of the paper, a first reference is made to the tools used for the creation and construction of the MOOC, the platform on which the course was created and the contents (video lectures, interactive content, evaluation criteria) of the MOOC.
Finally, we can conclude that a Massive Open Online MOOC Course of secondary education can function as a support for the teaching and consolidation of the important concepts in Geometry 1st High School and its application to secondary education students is considered successful.
