Social Justice & Career Adaptability to Undergraduate Students in Higher Education
Summary:
The purpose of this study is to highlight the correlation between social justice and career adaptability in 188 undergraduate students of higher education, as it has been shaped by the relevant literature review. In the post-pandemic era, social justice is present in the modern sustainable labor market and in a multicultural environment. Generation Z needs to be career adaptable to the constant work and social transitions but at the same time socially fair within the university, so that it can meet the demands of the new social work reality. A questionnaire of demographic data designed by the researcher, the Professional Adaptability questionnaire (CAAS Savickas & Porfeli, 2012) (Adapted to the Greek language: Despina Sidiropoulou-Dimakakou, Katerina Mikedaki, Katerina Argyropoulou & Andronikos Kaliris, 2018) and the translated questionnaire, Social Justice Scale (Susan R. Torres-Harding, Brian Siers, Bradley D. Olson, 2011) were used. It is observed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the subscales of career interest and perceived control behavior. Furthermore, it is observed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between the subscales of control, curiosity and self-confidence of career adaptability and perceived control behavior and the intention to act for social justice. In addition, the results suggest that women show a greater percentage of social justice behavior compared to men. The results can be used in research, education and career counseling.
