Hemostasis disorders and treatment in liver surgeries

Liver surgeries are complex procedures, with hemorrhage control being one of the most critical factors for successful outcomes. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately identify coagulation disorders during these interventions, as well as their correlation with mortality and morbidity. Liver surgeries can be performed using either laparoscopic methods or conventional surgical techniques, depending on the patient and available resources. The purpose of this thesis is to summarize the most recent literature data regarding hemostatic disorders in liver surgeries, as well as the ways in which these disorders are addressed in modern clinical practice. According to the literature, surgical strategies for management include three basic categories of interventions: surgical techniques, transfusion of blood derivatives, and administration of pharmacological factors. In conclusion, it can be stated that in all three categories, most interventions have a positive impact on the patient's health evolution. In this way, the application of the most appropriate intervention will be ensured in cases where there is an increased likelihood of bleeding disorders (e.g. patients with cirrhosis, chronic liver disease, and pre-existing bleeding disorders), while also avoiding side effects from the administration of pharmacological agents.
