Summary:
In recent years, comprehensive policy and regulatory reforms have taken effetc in order to address the challenges posed by climate change. Some of the most recent policy and regulatory reforms concern the Maritime Industry, its decarbonization and therefore the reduction of its environmental footprint. This paper constitutes a study of European Union policy and legal reforms for the energy transition of the shipping industry. In particular, the challenges and certain conditions that emerge in this context. The forementioned are examined through a series of relevant EU policies, as well as the case of the Greek shipping sector.
