This thesis aims to investigate the effectiveness of a tailored teaching approach that combines the principles of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with Emotional Intelligence (EI), with the goal of cultivating skills for recognizing, expressing, and managing emotions in preschool-aged children. This approach integrates STEM activities with the need to enhance emotional skills in students through collaborative and interactive learning methods. The methodology involves observing the students during activities, with the aim of documenting the development of social and emotional skills in real-time.
The research is conducted in a kindergarten in Athens, where students participate in STEM activities designed to promote the recognition, expression, and management of emotions. The educational activities focus on collaboration and problem-solving, aiming to foster emotional intelligence and the development of social interaction skills.
The results showed that STEM activities are an effective tool for the development of emotional skills, enhancing students' abilities to recognize and manage emotions in preschool-aged children. The research provides new perspectives for the future integration of emotional intelligence into the educational process and highlights the importance of continuous support for children's socio-emotional development through innovative teaching approaches.
