<dc:description xml:lang="en">Stroke in childhood is a rare event; however it remains among the first ten causes of death in this age. The current dissertation is a literature review of the etiology and the imaging of childhood stroke. Signs and symptoms of neonatal stoke, and stroke in infants are non- specific. On the contrary, symptoms in older kids are similar to adults. The causes are numerous. Nowadays, the several modalities existing in neuroradiology, offer the physician a priceless tool to the diagnosis of childhood stroke. Brain ultrasound is the method of choice in the diagnosis and monitoring the intraventricular hemorrhage of the preterm baby. Computed tomography remains at the first line of the imaging of hemorrhagic intracerebral lesions, mainly because of its high sensitivity and widespread availability. MRI is the method of choice at the imaging of ischemic lesions, although its sensitivity is high in the diagnosis of hemorrhagic lesions as well. The therapy of childhood stroke is yet under study, as children cannot easily participate in clinical trials and respond differently to the therapies existing for adults. Until today supportive measures are mainly used for the treatment of childhood and neonatal stroke.</dc:description>
