<dc:description xml:lang="en">Introduction: A large body of literature supports that during the Covid-19 pandemic, hospital workers who were on the front lines of the global health crisis also faced mental health issues and insomnia. Aim: The present study aims to investigate the impact of burnout symptoms and insomnia among physicians working in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of Greek public hospitals, two years after the onset of the pandemic. Materials and Methods: An electronic questionnaire was distributed between May and December 2022. It included demographic questions (e.g., age, gender, position in the ICU, etc.), the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Athens Isomnia Scale and one question regarding the use of pharmaceutical or other sleep aids. Results: A total of 138 ICU physicians from public hospitals submitted their responses. The mean MBI scores indicated that physicians were close to the threshold of emotional exhaustion (32.22 ± 9.27), felt that their personal accomplishments were insufficient (34.1 ± 6.83), and experienced depersonalization (12.62 ± 5.85). Furthermore, their sleep quality was rated as poor (7.93 ± 3.87). Conclusions: Two years after the onset of the pandemic, Greek ICU physicians continue to face significant issues related to insomnia and psychological burden.</dc:description>
