<dc:description xml:lang="en">This thesis explores the concept of female courage in early Christianity through the figure of Thecla, as presented in the apocryphal text The Acts of Paul and Thecla (2nd century AD). The aim of the study is to demonstrate how courage is constituted as an eschatological and ecclesial experience within the theological and social context of the early Church, without projecting modern ideological interpretations. The thesis first examines the historical and literary context of the text, highlighting its key theological characteristics, such as its intense eschatological outlook and the active presence of women in early Cristian communities. It then analyzes Thecla ’s transition from a socially defined female role to a free ecclesial existence, focusing on her conversion, her relationship with Paul, and her martyrdoms. The courage of Thecla is interpreted not as physical heroism, but as endurance, faith, and freedom rooted in eschatological hope. In this way, Thecla emerges as an ecclesian person whose life bears witness to the transformative power of Christian faith.</dc:description>
