<dc:description xml:lang="en">This study examines, through sponsorships in the field of sports, the sustainability of cultural organizations—those that belong to the so-called “cultural industries.” According to UNESCO’s definition, cited by Avdikos (2024: 59), “cultural industries are industries that produce and distribute cultural goods or services which, by their nature or the purpose of their production, embody or convey cultural expressions, regardless of the commercial value they may have” (Didentzi, 2015). In an attempt to address the question, “Why are there not so many or well-known sponsorships between these two sectors, given that such collaborations would promote their sustainability?”, a theoretical review of the relevant literature was conducted, along with an analysis of digital material (official websites, electronic articles, etc.). Regarding the research methodology adopted for this study, qualitative research— through interviews with stakeholders and observation, particularly field-based participatory observation—proved to be the most appropriate approach. This method, commonly employed by anthropologists (and other researchers), aims to gather extensive and detailed data through the experiences, stories, and perspectives of participants, functioning as a form of research evaluation and inquiry. The findings provide an initial answer to the above question while simultaneously revealing the importance of cooperation between the fields of sports and culture through sponsorship activities, for their mutual benefit. Issues of sustainability and corporate social responsibility are analyzed within the same framework. Overall, the study highlights once again the significance of sponsorship in sports organizations and events, both for their own benefit and for that of cultural organizations engaged in such partnerships. Finally, further questions and proposals are raised regarding the strengthening of this thematic field.</dc:description>
