<dc:description xml:lang="en">The rapid expansion of social media platforms has significantly transformed political marketing, reshaping the ways in which citizens access political information, form attitudes, and perceive political parties and candidates. This master’s thesis examines the role of social media in shaping voters’ intention, focusing on key political marketing variables such as brand awareness, engagement and interaction, influencer marketing, and political content. The study is grounded in the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) in order to explore whether political communication through social media primarily activates the central or the peripheral route of information processing. The findings indicate that brand awareness constitutes the most influential mechanism of social media impact, as it enhances the visibility, recognition, and recall of political parties. However, a clear gap is observed between increased awareness and actual voting intention, suggesting that heightened digital visibility does not necessarily translate into electoral support. Moreover, the results reveal a strong level of skepticism toward influencer marketing, with citizens largely rejecting social media influencers as credible sources of political information. Social media platforms appear to function mainly as passive channels of political information rather than as effective tools for political mobilization and behavioral change. Overall, the findings suggest that social media influence political perceptions predominantly through the peripheral route of processing, affecting image and general impressions rather than leading to deep cognitive elaboration or decisive changes in voting behavior. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of the limits and possibilities of digital political communication in contemporary democratic contexts, highlighting the need for more substantive and trust-oriented strategies in political campaigning.</dc:description>
