<dc:description xml:lang="en">Breast cancer is one of the most common neoplastic diseases in humans, with unfavorable prognosis and high mortality rates observed in cases associated with metastatic spread. Metastasis is a complex, multistep process, the efficiency of which depends not only on the intrinsic characteristics of tumor cells, but also on their interactions with the tumor microenvironment. Among the molecular regulators of metastasis, E-cadherin plays a central role. E-cadherin is considered a tumor suppressor due to its function in maintaining epithelial cell–cell adhesion, with its loss facilitating tumor cell dissociation, migration, and invasion. However, its expression may also support metastatic progression, by promoting the formation of tumor cell clusters with enhanced survival and metastatic potential. In the present study, a bioinformatic analysis was performed on cases of lobular and ductal breast carcinomas exhibiting variable levels of E-cadherin expression. Increased E-cadherin expression was associated with poorer overall survival, lymph node involvement, and more advanced disease stage, although these associations did not reach statistical significance. Furthermore, immunohistochemical analysis of tissue sections from primary ductal breast carcinoma and matched metastatic lymph nodes demonstrated distinct differences in E-cadherin staining patterns between primary and corresponding lymph node metastatic sites. Notably, heterogeneity in E-cadherin expression was also observed across different sections of the same tissue from individual patients. Overall, the dual role of E-cadherin expression in breast cancer metastasis, as extensively described in literature, does not demonstrate a clear or consistent prognostic value. Further investigation is required to clarify the clinical relevance of E-cadherin as a prognostic biomarker and its potential utility in patient stratification.</dc:description>
