<dc:description xml:lang="en">The present master’s thesis examines the impact of fan violence on the relationship between supporters and sports brands, and more specifically the level and forms of engagement that fans develop towards sports clubs. In the contemporary sports environment, clubs operate as multifaceted brands whose value, reputation, and sustainability depend to a great extent on fans’ emotional identification, psychological attachment, participation, and loyalty. However, fan violence constitutes a critical extra-sporting factor that may undermine the fan experience and weaken the relationship of trust with the club’s brand. At a theoretical level, the thesis analyses the concepts of brand in sport, consumer engagement, and fan identity, highlighting the symbolic, psychological, and social dimensions of the fan–team relationship. At the same time, fan violence is examined not only as a social phenomenon, but also as a factor that negatively affects brand equity, the commercial dynamics of sports clubs, and fans’ willingness to actively engage in the activities of the sports brand. At the methodological level, the empirical research follows a qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews with fans and sports journalists, and is grounded in an interpretive research framework developed in the present study. Through thematic and comparative analysis, the perceptions, experiences, and attitudes of the participants towards fan violence are explored, as well as the ways in which it affects stadium attendance, merchandise consumption, digital engagement through social media, and the overall image of sports clubs as brands. It should be emphasized that sports marketing, like political and cultural marketing, draws upon current and recent social reality and therefore borrows useful insights from other scientific disciplines and fields of knowledge, such as sociology, social psychology, statistics, and economics. The findings indicate that fan violence operates as a deterrent for significant segments of the fan base, particularly for so-called “ordinary” supporters and families, limiting the level of engagement and undermining the collective experience of the sporting event. Furthermore, the role of mass media, club administrations, and the State emerges as crucial in shaping public discourse and perceptions surrounding violence. The thesis concludes with the formulation of proposals of practical and strategic value for the management of sports brands, emphasizing the need to enhance safety, institutional credibility, and the cultivation of a healthy fan culture as prerequisites for the sustainable development of engagement in Greek sport.</dc:description>
