<dc:description xml:lang="en">Blood sufficiency is not merely a matter of organization—it is a matter of life. This means that adequate blood reserves must always be available to meet patients’ needs, while proper management is simultaneously required. In addition, demand forecasting is necessary, as blood demand is not stable and may increase in emergency situations. In Greece, within the framework of the blood donation system’s operation, the utilization of innovative digital technologies becomes essential, with Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerging as a strategic support mechanism for the modernization of blood donation services. The present master’s thesis, through a literature review and a theoretical approach, examines how Artificial Intelligence applications can contribute to the recruitment and long-term retention of blood donors. Techniques of Machine Learning and Predictive Analytics are analyzed for forecasting blood demand and donor behavior, as well as systems for automated and personalized digital communication. A review of international experience shows that AI can contribute to the optimal management and utilization of blood supplies. At the same time, the thesis proposes a tailored theoretical framework for Greece, based on the utilization of a national Data Lake under the National Blood Center (EKEA) and the implementation of the Smart Blood App, accompanied by a phased adoption roadmap. Particular emphasis is placed on ethical, legal, and social prerequisites, focusing on compliance with the GDPR, the EU AI Act, and the need for transparency. In conclusion, Artificial Intelligence can strengthen blood donation, provided that institutional safeguards and social acceptance are ensured.</dc:description>
