Η Λογοτεχνία, ως μορφή αφήγησης, και η Ιστορία παρουσιάζουν τόσο κοινά χαρακτηριστικά όσο και ουσιώδεις διαφορές. Το Ιστορικό μυθιστόρημα αποτελεί το κατεξοχήν λογοτεχνικό είδος στο οποίο οι δύο αυτοί τομείς συναντώνται και αλληλεπιδρούν. Στο πλαίσιο της εργασίας, εξετάζονται οι βασικές θεωρητικές προσεγγίσεις του ιστορικού μυθιστορήματος, με αναφορά σε σημαντικούς μελετητές, όπως ο Walter Scott και ο Hayden White, οι οποίοι συνέβαλαν καθοριστικά στη διαμόρφωση και ανάλυση του είδους. Παράλληλα, αναλύονται τέσσερα Ελληνικά Ιστορικά μυθιστορήματα: Τα μυστικά του βάλτου της Πηνελόπης Δέλτα, Η Νενέ η Σμυρνιά της Έλσας Χίου, Όταν ο ήλιος… της Ζωρζ Σαρή και Η αρχαία σκουριά της Μάρως Δούκα. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δίνεται στις ιδεολογικές, κοινωνικές και παιδαγωγικές διαστάσεις των έργων, με στόχο την ανάδειξη της δυναμικής του ιστορικού μυθιστορήματος ως εργαλείου καλλιέργειας ιστορικής συνείδησης, κριτικής σκέψης και ενσυναίσθησης στο πλαίσιο της εκπαίδευσης. Στο Ιστορικό μυθιστόρημα, η Ιστορία δεν αναπαρίσταται απλώς ως αλληλουχία γεγονότων, αλλά διασταυρώνεται με την προσωπική εμπειρία, τη μνήμη και την υποκειμενική πρόσληψη των ιστορικών συνθηκών. Το είδος συγκροτείται μέσω της σύμπραξης αφηγηματικών τεχνικών της λογοτεχνίας και μεθοδολογικών στοιχείων της ιστορίας, με αποτέλεσμα τη δημιουργική σύζευξη των δύο πεδίων. Κατ’ αυτόν τον τρόπο, η ιστορική γνώση μετασχηματίζεται σε βιωματική και αφηγηματική εμπειρία, επιτρέποντας στον αναγνώστη να προσεγγίσει το παρελθόν όχι μόνο γνωστικά, αλλά και συναισθηματικά. The aim of the present study is to explore the relationship between literature and history. Literature, as a form of narrative, and history share common features, while at the same time presenting significant differences. The historical novel constitutes the literary genre in which these two fields intersect and interact. Within the framework of this study, key theoretical approaches to the historical novel are examined, with reference to major scholars such as Walter Scott and Hayden White, who have contributed significantly to the development and analysis of the genre. In addition, four Greek historical novels are analyzed: Ta Mystika tou Valtou by Penelope Delta, Nene i Smyrnia by Elsa Chiou, Otan o Ilios… by Zorz Sarri, and I Archaia Skouria by Maro Douka. Particular emphasis is placed on the ideological, social, and pedagogical dimensions of these works, aiming to highlight the potential of the historical novel as a tool for cultivating historical consciousness, critical thinking, and empathy within the educational context. In the historical novel, history is not presented merely as a sequence of events, but is intertwined with personal experience, memory, and the subjective perception of historical conditions. The genre is formed through the combination of literary narrative techniques and historiographical elements, resulting in a creative synthesis of literature and history. In this way, historical knowledge is transformed into a narrative and experiential process, enabling the reader to approach the past not only cognitively but also emotionally.
