Περίληψη:
This thesis examines the visual representation of female homoeroticism in ancient Athens, specifically through Attic vase paintings from the Archaic and Classical periods. Female homoeroticism in ancient Athens has been largely overlooked due to androcentric and heteronormative biases in both ancient society and modern scholarship. By applying feminist and queer theory, the study reinterprets vase paintings that depict women in intimate settings, such as baths and weddings, to uncover subtle expressions of female desire.
