Περίληψη:
In two cases, primary neoplasms originating in the cornea were observed. The first case concerned a woman, 54 years old, whose right cornea developed a blackish-gray formation, 4 × 2 mm. Visual acuity of right eye was light perception. After the enucleation, histologic examination showed that the tumor consisted of dense, diffuse neoplastic cells of moderate size, spindle shaped, slightly rounded, and irregular in some parts; some of them contained melanin. In other areas, an ample polymorphy and anisochromasia of the nuclei were observed. In this case, almost certainly "en route" to malignancy, there were also small, flat aggregations of nevus cells in other sites of the cornea. The second case concerned a man, 62 years old, who developed a longitudinal berry-like formation in the medial part of the cornea 8 × 3.5 mm. Histology revealed a pigmented nevus with no signs of malignancy. In both cases, these neoplasms arose from the cornea. In the first case repeat sections did not reveal any relationship between the tumor and the limbus. © 1973.
