Αξιολόγηση της δερμοαντίδρασης Mantoux και του QuantiFERON σε ασθενείς με καρκίνο πνεύμονα
Languages:

Summary:
Introduction
Mantoux reaction and QuantiFERON test are used in the diagnosis of latent
tuberculosis infection in immunocompromised patients.
Aim
To evaluate the sensitivity of QuantiFERON test and Mantoux reaction in
patients with lung cancer in diagnosing latent tuberculosis infection, any
post-treatment conversion of these tests (after 3 cycles of chemotherapy) and
any possible correlation between them.
Methods
52 patients with lung cancer were studied prospectively regarding the results
of Mantoux reaction and QuantiFERON test, before and after receiving 3 cycles
of chemotherapy.
Results
Although, prior to chemotherapy more patients had positive QuantiFERON test
than positive Mantoux reaction, the difference between them was not
statistically significant. The difference between the results of Mantoux
reaction before and after receiving 3 cycles of chemotherapy was statistically
significant. The same observation was made for QuantiFERON test. Comparing the
change of Mantoux reaction prior and post to 3 cycles of chemotherapy with that
of QuantiFERON test, there was not found any statistically significant
difference.
Conclusions
QuantiFERON test seems to be more sensitive than Mantoux reaction in diagnosing
latent tuberculosis in patients with lung cancer. What is not clear is which
test is more sensitive after chemotherapy, since treatment adversely affects
both of these tests.
