Professional quality of life, dysfunctional pre-conception and psychopathology at greek firefighters
Summary:
The aim of the present study is to investigate the existence of corelation
between quality of life, dysfunctional pre-conception, professional quality of
life, as reflected through the compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary
trauma, and the existence of psychopathology to Greek firefighters.
To investigate the above, four questionnaires were used, the WHOQoL-BREF, the
DPQ, the ProQoL and the GHQ-28, which were completed by 70 (N = 70)
firefighters The statistical analysis showed a statistically significant
correlation between the presence or risk of developing psychopathology and the
three subscales of the professional quality of life with r = -0,43, to
compassion satisfaction, r = 0,65, for burnout and r = 0.62 for secondary
trauma. Also, there was a statistically significant correlation between the
overall quality of life with the subscales of: compassion satisfaction (r =
0,42), burnout (r = - 0,38) and the secondary trauma (r = - 0,26, statistically
significant only at 5%). The study results indicate that the professional
quality of life, the existence of a mental illness and quality of life
influence each other.
