Summary:
Growth hormone (GH) , effects body growth. The activity of GH takes place
through GHR receptor. The effects of GH are mainly mediated by the
insulin-like growth factor 1, IGF-1. The synthesis of IGF-1 is stimulated by
GH , suspended from deficiency-insensitivity of GH and by the lack of GH
receprors. The IGF-1 acts through interaction with its receptor IGF-1R. GH
promotes protein synthesis and inhibits protein catabolism, whereas the IGF-1
controls cell proliferation and inhibits cell apoptosis. Through GH/IGF-1
axis and its connection to their receptors, takes place the transmition of
active messages in the cell by using specific molecules and causes muscle
hypertrophy. The load caused by exercise at muscles , helps increase muscle
size. The increased levels of GH after exercise demonstrates that exercise is
a powerful physiological stimulus of GH release. Type (aerobic, anaerobic)
and features such as intensity, rest periods, repetitions, are factors that can
influence GH release. The linear relationship between exercise intensity and
GH release, influesed by gender and body mass index .
