High risk pregnancy and a system of care servises for pregnant women
Summary:
SUMMARY
Introduction: The purpose of study is to develop system of care services for
pregnant women during labor and childbirth to ensure the health of the
developing embryo.
The purpose is to explore the maternal and infant risk factors contributing to
a pregnancy that is developing in the community and which presents such a high
risk that the primary health care services have to take an active role in
ensuring the survival of both the pregnant woman and infant. Methods: a
literature search was conducted via the Internet, electronic databases Pubmed
and Scopus, via the Google search engine Scholar, for the period 1989-2010.
Results: The available literature dealing with the care, and patient
experience, is rare. Unfortunately, valuable information on the contribution of
district nurses as well as midwives, who worked from the early 50’s in
maternity care services with home visits and monitoring pregnant women and
mothers, are not available.
Conclusions: The need for research to examine the provision of protective
maternity services by health visitors, community nurses and midwives is
evident. A survey on patient satisfaction with services is an area that
requires investigation
