Original Title:
Μελέτη του ρόλου των μεταγραφικών παραγόντων της οικογένειας klf (kruppel like factors) στη νεφρική ίνωση
Summary:
This study focuses on the expression of the transcription factors Kruppel like
factors (KLFs) and mostly KLF6 in renal fibrosis. We used as a model UUO
(unilateral ureteric obstruction) in rats and as a material renal biopsies were
used. The methodology consists of real time pcr, immunohistochemistry, double
immunofluorescence. According to the results the expression of KLFs and
specifically KLF6 increases at the stages of early fibrosis compared to control
animals and advanced fibrosis. Interestingly enough, we found some cells around
the glomerulus, which at the stage of early fibrosis express both KLF6 and
aSMA, which is a marker of activated fibroblasts, so these cells probably
represent activated fibroblasts with a significant role in the progression of
kidney fibrosis.
