Ταξινόμηση νοσημάτων που συνδέονται με μυοσκελετικό άλγος
Summary:
Musculoskeletal pain affects bone, muscles ligaments and tendons while it is
very common in the clinical practice and constitutes a major problem of modern
medicine. The related pathologies and conditions constitute the most common
causes of chronic pain and disability, directly affecting patient’s quality of
life. Musculoskeletal pain may be acute or chronic and is mainly invoked by
three main causes. From intense everyday activities that engage in unusual and
repetitive strains to the musculoskeletal system, from acute traumatic
incidents and from musculoskeletal disorders. The causative agents and
conditions are multiple subsequently making their everyday management in the
clinical setting, increasingly difficult. This issue is alleviated by the use
of taxonomy which classifies and groups them into categories with common
characteristics. As such diseases causing musculoskeletal pain may be
classified into those causing acute or chronic pain, nociceptive, somatic,
neuropathic, psychogenic, and finally referred and mixed pain. These
classifications mainly involve factors like the perception, nature, and
mechanism of the stimulus, while they also concern disorders in the transport
and translation from the central nervous system and disorders that affect the
regulation of its expression.
