Summary:
The technique of liquid based cytology was developed to improve the limits of
diagnostic accuracy of the conventional Pap test. At the same time, this
improvement has contributed significantly to the continued use of automated
scanning devices, which feature improved diagnostic accuracy when analyzing
coatings, in which there is a slight degree, of cellular duplication. Cell
samples prepared by liquid based technique cytology seem consistently satisfy
the previous condition.
The technique allows the transfer of every cell, obtained with the
aid of a camera cervical smear, a liquid maintenance substance, stored in, for
a certain time. This thesis aims to identify the existing technical cytology of
liquid phase, gynecological and non, material.
The first chapter makes a brief recording systems cytology of liquid phase,
while describing the comparative advantages and disadvantages of the method.
Simultaneously it is an overview of method’s cost and effectiveness, in
clinical practice. Subsequently, the second chapter aims to describe the
process in laboratory scale, such as the basic procedural steps collection and
processing of samples and the extraction processes of genetic material.
Finally, the third and last chapter, refers to modern research data on cytology
of liquid phase. For a better understanding of the literature, a research
supporting the use of the method in studies that compare the different methods
and finally compare the performance of the specimens through methods ThinPrep
and SurePath, was essential.
