Summary:
The stage of pregnancy and the arrival of a baby affect, significantly,
a set of functions in the body of a woman. Everything is focused on how the
body changes during pregnancy and the psychology of the mother - to - be is
waived.
This paper aims to bring up elements concerning the psychology of a
pregnant woman which are known but not well acknowledged. Emphasis is given on
factors causing disturbances in the psychology of pregnant women, as well as on
the degree of their impact on the course of pregnancy, on the evolution of
childbirth and on the post-natal period. Also, psychological changes are
highlighted, for example depression, which may occur during pregnancy, their
symptoms, as well as, the impact they may have on both the family and the fetus.
Management and treatment of these psychological changes is deficient.
The help and support of women in the period of pregnancy is necessary. Equally
necessary is updating women for depressive/anxiety disorders that can occur
during pregnancy and postpartum.
This responsibility applies to all health professionals who must
contribute to the birth of a healthy child, derived from a physically and
mentally healthy mother.
