The dissertation is mainly focused on how determinant were the US and the EU factors during the period 1996-2006. The key events for the Greek foreign policy are the Imia Crisis, the Helsinki Summit, the developments of 2004 (Cyprus accession, Helsinki strategy). The impact of the US and the EU is mainly shown by whether or not Greece follows the principles and the objectives of the EU and the US, whether or not Greek policy is steady towards Turkey,
whether or not the bilateral difference are being resolved.
