Summary:

The purpose of this study was to determine the levels of colistin in epithelial
lining fluid (ELF) and serum after administration via nebulization of the
maximum recommended dose of colistimethate sodium (CMS) to intubated and
mechanically ventilated critically ill patients with lung infections due to
multidrug-resistant (MDR), gram-negative bacteria.Colistin concentrations in
BAL and serum were determined by high performance liquid chromatography.
