Summary:
In this study we examine Mathematical Induction through its multiple
epistemological, cognitive and educational aspects. The aim of the present
study is the juxtaposition and the merging of the above aspects together with
several theories of Mathematics Education, such as Realistic Mathematics
Education and Inquiry Based Learning, in the attempt to create two proposals.
The first proposal is a teaching framework composed of teaching principles,
concerning Mathematical Induction and the second proposal consists of our
suggestion for implementing this teaching framework in the schools of Greece.
