Energy Harvesting and Wireless Nodes Systems
Summary:
In the present Thesis, we attempt to describe the Energy Harvesting process in
a wireless nodes network. A major issue, that prevents us from the development
of such systems, is the continuous, correct and uninterrupted power supply. For
this reason, different types of energy harvesting (such as solar, wind,
electromagnetic, mechanical energy and more) are an attractive and low cost
solution as they are abundant in the environment.
At the following chapters, we extensively describe the wireless nodes networks
and we analyze their energy consumption. Then, there is an overview of the
mathematical models of piezoelectric devices. Piezoelectric materials have the
ability to transform mechanical strain energy into electrical charge and this
is one of the most popular ways to harvest power. Finally, we present the
Markov model in wireless nodes systems.
